Jeremy Bird

Secretary of Port Orange Police Association

 

Mr. Jeremy Bird has been a member of the Port Orange Police Association since its inception in June of 2017, and was elected to the position of Secretary of the Association in June of 2019.

In August of 2005, Mr. Bird graduated with honors from the Daytona Beach Community College Basic Law Enforcement Academy. His above-average achievements earned him two academic awards. Shortly thereafter, he began his career at the Port Orange Police Department.

Throughout Mr. Bird’s successful career, he has served in a variety of capacities, including patrol officer and field training officer. Notably, he was one of two officers appointed to the newly-established position of a Dual-Purpose K9 Handler, which lead to he and his K9 being one of the department’s first K9 Teams to be certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Moreover, he was appointed to the newly-formed Crime Suppression Team (CST) as a supervisor, and was proven to be instrumental to the success of the team. In July of 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he is currently serving. He has been honored with numerous nominations, awards, letters of recognition, letters of commendation and complimentary statements, which reflect his hard work and dedication to the community he serves.

Mr. Bird’s commitment to service began in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He served with the 331 Signal Co., 101st FSB, 1st Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Riley Kansas from September 2000 to December 2004.  He deployed to Ar Ramadi Iraq as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2003 to September 2004. He received numerous awards and commendations while serving our country.

Mr. Bird’s commitment to service has proven to be invaluable to the members of the Port Orange Police Association.
