Justin White

President of Port Orange Police Association

In June of 2006, Mr. Justin White graduated with honors from Daytona Beach Community College Law Enforcement Academy and was hired shortly thereafter by the Port Orange Police Department. During his first year as an officer, he showed an eagerness to learn, a relentless dedication to his duties and responsibilities, and a commitment to serving his community. This zeal has continued throughout his career. By year two, he became a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) until he began his next appointment the following year.

By year three, he was one of two officers appointed to the newly-formed position of Dual-Purpose K9 Handler. During his 9 years serving in the K9 program, for which he was instrumental in developing, he served as Lead K9 Handler and became the department’s first Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Certified K9 Instructor. Some of his notable achievements include: establishing K9 handler tryouts, rewriting a relevant K9 policy, and training K9 handlers according to FDLE requirements. In addition, he was proactive in strengthening community relations through K9 demonstrations and through the development of the “Name the K9 Contest” which invited the Port Orange elementary schools to name the department’s new K9s.

By year seven, as he was still serving in the K9 capacity, he was chosen to serve on the newly established Crime Suppression Team (CST), which was developed in direct response to addressing the sudden increase in crime. Within the first couple of months, crime had dropped significantly. He served as a Team Leader and remained on this successful team the entire time it was in operation.

Throughout Mr. White’s exemplary career, he has been honored with numerous awards and accolades from the Port Orange Police Department, the Port Orange/South Daytona Chamber of Commerce, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Crime Stoppers, Allen Chapel, Former Port Orange City Manager Ken Parker, Former Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood and Former Representative Dave Hood of the Florida House of Representatives, including awarded and nominated Officer of the Year by the Port Orange Police Department (awarded in 2013 and nominated three other years), nominated Officer of the Year by Crime Stoppers and recognized with the following awards: Award of Achievement (2), Award of Merit (3), Award of Valor, and Unit Citation for the Crime Suppression Team (2).

Mr. White holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Juris Master (J.M.) from Liberty University. His work ethic and unwavering determination for excellence which is demonstrated in his career and academic endeavors are also demonstrated in his role as President of the Port Orange Police Association. In June of 2017, he and co-founder, Mr. Greg Cook, established the Association with integrity and through a member-focused concept, and those two elements have remained steadfast.

“It is a great honor to go above and beyond to serve and protect my fellow officers who go above and beyond to serve and protect our community.”
